Vidar Gundersen brings over 37 years of expertise in customs processes, IT systems, and policy development, working across customs authorities, private sector companies, and non-profits. With degrees in mechanical engineering, finance, and advanced studies in process development, he has played a key role in shaping modern customs frameworks.
As former CIO of Swedish Customs, he led the transformation into a world-class customs agency, pioneering Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) concepts, Single Window solutions, and eGovernment services—models that later influenced EU and global standards. He also contributed to drafting the EU’s Union Customs Code (UCC) within the European Commission.
From 2007 to 2022, Vidar was CEO and CCO of KGH Customs Services, growing it into Europe’s largest independent customs Customs Services Provider while driving digitalized customs control towers and innovative trade solutions. Before shifting focus to advisory roles, he served as Global Strategic Customs Advisor at Maersk Line.
Today, alongside his work with CNXION, Vidar is actively involved in shaping the future of European customs, advising on the modernization of the UCC and broader reforms—including the proposed EU Customs Agency, a central data hub, and new e-commerce handling models set to impact global trade.
